In order to build a brick shed or utility block, it is not necessary to seek professional help. You can build a building with your own hands, but for this you need to know some of the features of working with bricks. A well-constructed barn will last for several years without any repairs.
Features of the
A brick shed is a very convenient structure that will not be superfluous on a personal plot. Such a structure has its own advantages and disadvantages. The most significant positives are strength and durability. A brick building is not afraid of moisture, frost and fire. In addition, a shed or utility block does not have to be processed with different compositions. There are also disadvantages.
- For such a shed, you will first need to build a reliable foundation. This requires a lot of financial investment.
- High price. The construction budget will be much higher compared to the same building made of wood or blocks.
- Thermal conductivity. Without internal insulation, the room will be cold enough.
- Brick weight. From this point of view, the construction will have to spend much more effort.
Before you build a brick shed, you need to decide on a place. When choosing a site for construction, several features should be taken into account:
- a barn and a utility block must be built in the most convenient place (to make it easier to get tools, equipment and everything that will be stored there);
- it is not recommended to erect a structure in the immediate vicinity of other buildings - baths, toilets, gazebos;
- it is better if the barn is located away from neighboring fences and territories.
More specifically, the distance should be as follows: from a neighboring site - at least 4 meters, from a residential building - at least 15 meters, from a well, sewer - 30-50 meters.
It is also necessary to take into account the existing or planned plantings. The fact is that the building can shade the area on which light-loving plants are located.
When the place is determined, you can proceed to the preparation of everything you need. It is better to prepare materials in advance:
- the right amount of bricks;
- sand or gravel;
- roofing material;
- plaster;
- timber;
- self-tapping screws;
- bars;
- sheet pile board;
- cement.
It is also better to put tools in a convenient place that will come in handy during work.
Projects
The project of the future structure must be chosen depending on what the shed or outbuilding will be used for. If you don't have a lot of experience in construction work, then it is better to give preference to the simplest and most budgetary of all. The option with a shed roof in the country will be the most optimal.
It is imperative to include the dimensions of the future building in the project. It is almost impossible to give recommendations here, since the dimensions depend on individual preferences, as well as on the budget.
The dimensions are best entered on the drawings. During construction, they must be kept close at all times.
How to build?
Initially, you should prepare the site. To do this, it is necessary to remove all the debris (if any), and clear the soil of grass and roots. It will also be useful to smooth out the irregularities on the surface. Then you can move on to the markup. The easiest way is to drive the pegs into the ground at the desired marks. Then you need to pull the rope over them. At this stage, it is very important to follow the developed project.
This is followed by an equally important stage - the construction of the foundation. Experts recommend choosing a monolithic or strip foundation for a brick shed. It is better to abandon the construction of a columnar because of its massiveness.
The foundation is erected in several stages
- It is necessary to dig a trench in accordance with the planned markings. The optimum depth is 1 meter.
- Crushed stone must be poured into the bottom. It is better if the layer is at least 40-45 cm.
- Then the formwork and frame should be installed. Then all this is poured with concrete.
Now you need the concrete in the trench to dry well and become solid. This may take several days.
When the concrete has completely turned to stone, you can proceed to the construction of walls. They should not be made too wide, half a brick will be enough. To make the masonry more even, jointing must be done shortly before the mortar has completely solidified. When it comes to the last top row, you need to fill in the so-called armopoyas. It is designed to securely fix the building. Masonry is best done with red facing bricks.
When the walls are ready and the mortar is dry, you can proceed to the arrangement of the roof. The simplest option is a single-slope, but you can also make a dual-slope. The most popular roofing materials are slate and metal tiles. It is best to install an iron door.
Beautiful examples
To clearly see the future construction, you can find beautiful examples on the Internet
The photo shows a brick shed with a pitched roof. Especially attention is drawn to the even masonry
Another interesting option is a brick shed with a gable roof. A special feature is the inserted window. But here the door is no longer iron, but made of wood sheathed with plastic
Brick utility block with a straight roof. Despite the fact that the option is very simple, it looks original because of the graffiti. If you want to diversify the site, make it brighter, then you should take a closer look at such a building
If the construction is carried out in accordance with all the rules, then the resulting shed or utility block will stand for several years without repair. So that the building is not boring, you can diversify it with some original features.
