The slats have differences in design, in dimensions that are inherent in the connection of elements to each other, in the presence or absence of ventilation grooves for removing moisture, chamfers. There are such options when it is processed from two sides - it has two front sides, but there are no additional grooves.
The standard lining has received widespread use, which may otherwise be called the quarter lining. These products are obtained by chamfering on the longitudinal side, and a pre-planed board is used for processing. This type is also popular among consumers due to its low cost.
The price is also influenced by the fact that raw wood is used for the manufacture of the board.
The next most popular is the thorn-groove connection., in which the pine panel is endowed with a small recess, which is obtained by mechanical processing. With a vertical type of installation, it is used for water drainage. Special attention should be paid to ensure that the moisture content of the wood falls within the range from 12 to 16%. The panel has standard values for the thickness of the product and should not exceed 16 mm. To obtain a finished board, planing is applied. This option is popular due to the fact that after facing, a surface is obtained that is characterized by increased smoothness and, at the same time, does not have any seams. It has proven itself excellently for cladding both external and internal walls, including even the ceiling.
Common options are lining profiles such as block house, softline, landhouse and American
- Block house made in the form of semicircular slats, which have a special groove located on the back surface used to improve ventilation, and on the sides there are spikes to facilitate assembly.
- Softline is a board with rounded edges. The smooth transition from one surface to another, which creates a single spliced surface, gives the interior of the room a noble look.
- Landhouse Is a strip with a width of up to 96 mm, in which the outer surface has a figured profile, and the inner surface is flat, but with additional slots and spikes.
- American has a special profile with special recesses on the inside of the board. This idea allows for quick installation, and also prevents the surface from negative external influences.
The "Calm" lining, which is a dried board, which is additionally chamfered, has excellent practical characteristics during finishing work. The Euromodel has increased dimensions, if compared with the standard one, its width will be up to 145 mm, and its length can reach up to 6 meters. Product classification
To purchase high-quality pine lining, you need to know the grade of the material used in the manufacture, which is why there is a division into classes. There are four lining classes: "Extra", "A", "B", "C".
Consumers who want to get the perfect interior of their premises, use pine clapboard of the "Extra" classwith the best set of characteristics. It is the highest quality raw material among other classes. There are no cracks in it, and the color is uniform over the entire area. This class is considered the most prestigious, because even purchasing a cube of products, there should be no defects.
After the "Extra" class comes "A". In this wood it is possible to find a couple of knots and special pockets from resin, but their number will be minimal. It represents a light board with high quality.
In class "B" three knots are allowed on a length of 1 meter of material. Resin pockets also exist, their size should not exceed 15 cm. This class is characterized by darkening of color when compared with the previous two.
It is rarely used as a finishing material for a fourth-class product. It has a technical focus, applied to other types of work. In this class, options are possible when the knot falls out and a hole is formed. And also the standard provides for the presence of blind cracks on the surface, the length of which should not exceed the reading of 5% relative to the entire length of the board. Resin pockets should not be more than 5 mm wide by 50 mm long.
The budget class may be accompanied by blue, but its indicator should not exceed 5% of the total size of the product.
Such a classification allows the consumer to obtain information about the choice of class, as well as the advantages between them. The cost of a square meter directly depends on the breed used for manufacturing. Of particular value is Canadian pine, which by nature has a pinkish tint of wood color and increased smoothness, which practically leads to the absence of additional treatments.
Characteristics, size range
Currently, there are many variations in size. For example, the thickness can vary from 12 to 22 mm, but as for the width, the following values can be found: 96, 120, 130, 145 and 195 mm. The length of the products can vary from 1.8 to 22 m.
Giving preference to one size or another, it is necessary to be guided by the rule of the least amount of waste that will be obtained as a result of finishing.
In all cases, the price is indicated for 1 running meter or m2, and this is valid, regardless of the type of lining.
Recommendations before buying
A consumer who needs to purchase material for finishing a summer cottage, bath or sauna, in principle, does not need to know so many secrets, because a quality product is visible instantly:
- lack of defects;
- smooth, even board surface;
- lack of distortions;
- exact geometrical dimensions.
But it is also necessary to decide on the choice of the type of wood used for decoration. Even the edges are checked in the lining, by which you can determine the quality of the product as a whole. Humidity is an essential criterion, so you need to constantly monitor that its indicator does not exceed a value of more than 17%.
However, the wood should not be allowed to dry out either, because it affects the appearance of the material.
Which option is best suited for finishing the bath
To give the finish an increased service life, it is necessary to endow it with a certain set of properties, among which are:
- thermal conductivity;
- durability;
- resistance to moisture exposure;
- high temperature protection;
- aesthetic indicators.
It is no secret that the bath belongs to the premises in which temperature drops constantly occur and there is an increased value of humidity. The material can be subjected to additional coating with varnish or a special antiseptic that can protect against the appearance of fungus or mold.
Pine wood has a pleasant color, as well as an aroma that gives comfort. We must not forget about the healing properties that nature has generously awarded her. She is able to have a beneficial effect on the human body.
Experts do not recommend using a lining made of spruce as a finishing material, because there is a risk of getting burned from resin drops that can appear under the influence of temperature.

Wooden lining is currently in high demand during the finishing work of both residential buildings and saunas, baths, and garages. The choice of material directly depends on the type of room.
Pine lining is better suited for finishing living rooms when compared with other types of wood, but for household - linden, ash or oak are more suitable.
