After purchasing a dishwasher, you should immediately prepare a set of necessary tools for its self-installation and determine the type and amount of consumables. The latter depends on the location of the equipment and the availability of the necessary communications there. The standard set of materials for metal-plastic water supply pipes ¾ inch is as follows:

  1. waste siphon with 1 fitting or with 2, if you plan to place an automatic washing machine next to it;
  2. ¾ inch tee;
  3. ¾ inch shut-off valve;
  4. FUM tape.

The installation site must have a grounded socket, if not, then additional wiring is required.

The tools for its installation are as follows:

  1. electric drill;
  2. straight and Phillips screwdrivers;
  3. scissors for plastic pipes;
  4. knife;
  5. plumbing wrench;
  6. building level.

An electrician's tools and an indicator screwdriver may be required to wire and connect the electrical outlet.

Choosing a suitable place

Most often, the dishwasher is connected in the working area of the kitchen, so that it fits well into the kitchen set and other household appliances. The distance to the sewer should not be more than 1.5 m, so as not to exceed the pump's operating capacity. It is also optimal to choose a place next to a free outlet so that you do not have to carry out additional electrical work.

Most often, the dishwasher is connected: under the countertop at the edge of the sink, next to the oven, under the hob, gas hob. For the desktop model, the connection options are in any convenient place, but so that the length of the sewer hose is enough and near the outlet. Such miniature devices are a little more than a microwave oven in size, they can be easily rearranged to another place.

Many models have standard dimensions specifically for the headset, so that they can be built into the finished kitchen without any problems. The front panel in combination with the lower cabinets, stove, washing machine will not spoil the appearance of the kitchen furniture facade in any way.

With a typical kitchen layout in a city apartment, in most cases, there are no connection problems - all communications are nearby, and nothing has to be redone. In the conditions of a summer residence, a country house, if the sewerage and water supply is not within walking distance, you can choose other suitable installation places, for example, in the bathroom.

Connection to the water supply

Before connecting a similar unit to the water supply and sewerage system, it is imperative to shut off the general water supply in the house: both hot and cold. Further, the metal-plastic tee is connected to the flexible hose of the mixer, one of its branches is connected to the machine itself, the other to the stopcock and the fine filter, if provided. The threaded joints are wrapped with several layers of FUM tape. It provides additional waterproofing. The dishwasher is connected only to cold water, it is heated already inside.

It is highly discouraged to connect such a unit to hot water, since there are much more impurities in it, therefore, the insides of the machine will eventually become covered with bloom. And its heating will consume several times of electricity than in the case of cold water.

Sewer piping

The drain hose from such a device is simply led out to a siphon under the sink; an additional outlet is specially provided on it. It is necessary that the hose is at an angle, then the drain will be more efficient. To prevent water from entering the sink into the dishwasher drain, a bend must be made at the connection point. All these operations are carried out by simple screwing onto the thread; no complicated installation work is performed here.

Electrical connection

In order to properly connect the dishwasher to the network, the outlet must be grounded and have a cable cross-section that can withstand a load of 16 A. one line with another powerful household appliance, such as a washing machine, is not recommended.

Functional check

After connecting to cold water, sewerage and electricity, the dishwasher starts up in test mode, i.e. without dishes. At the same time, the time for filling with water and its draining is checked, the absence of leaks at the joints. If the test mode passed without problems, then the device can be used.

Features of connection in the country

At the dacha, the main problems associated with the installation are the lack of sewerage, a long distance to water supply systems or outlets. But if all communications are carried out to the installation site, then for suburban conditions such a machine is even the most successful option, since hot water is not required for washing dishes.

Many people install such a unit, even if there is no running water in the house. It is only necessary that there is a normal pressure of cold water. For this, tanks are used that can be placed, for example, in the attic in a building.

Useful Tips

In the kitchen, a dishwasher and a washing machine are often connected together. To do this, use a common tee from the water supply and a waste siphon with two branches. But in order to avoid overloads in the power grid, you cannot power them from one distribution line, a separate one must be kept for each device.

Another important issue is the purification of the water that the unit will use. It is convenient to connect a filter grinder or a deep cleaning device at the inlet. Cold water from the mains anyway contains impurities, which over time will accumulate on the heating elements and internal shelves of the machine, which can cause problems. The filtering device will get rid of them for a long time.

Before connecting the device itself, you need to take care of a flat surface where it will be located. Most floor-standing models have lower leveling feet that adjust the horizontal level. But after installation, it is better to check the level position once again with an appropriate tool.

Many firms provide installation services along with the sale of the product. Therefore, the warranty for the operation of the device itself will not be valid for self-connection. This should be borne in mind: it is better to overpay a little for the work, than later not to have the right to replace and maintain faulty equipment.

When installing the floor-standing version to the wall, the gap between the ceiling and the rear wall of the unit must be at least 5 cm. This will ensure effective air circulation, which is important for the machine's performance.

It is not recommended to use an extension cord if the outlet is away from equipment. Since dishwashers consume quite a lot of power, there will be an increased load on long wires, which often leads to their failure, insulation melting or even fires. It is better not to spare time and money and create a new line with an outlet from the switchgear. You cannot connect the device together with others through ordinary tees.

Grounding from the power outlet should only go to the grounding bus of the apartment. In no case should it be connected to metal pipes for heating, gas supply and water supply. It's not safe.

Many products, especially from well-known manufacturers, are very demanding on a flat surface when working. If there is even a slight tilt, then the mode of operation is disrupted or even breakdowns may occur. Therefore, before a test run, it is worth carefully measuring the position using a building level.

The outlet hose to the sewer must always have a slope. This will ensure proper drainage and efficient operation of the machine in general. The flexibility of corrugated plastic hoses allows you to make any angle of inclination without problems, you just need to follow this during installation.
