Blinds are an excellent solution for protecting a room from bright sunlight and prying eyes. Initially, they were used only in large offices, where window maintenance required a minimum of time and money. Over time, this product made of interconnected lamellas has moved into ordinary residential buildings, adding comfort to everyday use. Unlike classic curtains they do not absorb dust, do not need washing and ironing, reliably protect from excessive light and are easy to clean even without special cleaning agents.

Features of the
Perforated blinds are a relatively new phenomenon in the market for sun blinds for windows and beyond. By design, they are ordinary horizontal blinds, however, the lamellas are made with perforations over the entire area. This creates a pleasant diffused light even with fully closed curtains.
In addition, such products are lighter, less susceptible to fading in the sun and completely cover the room from street observers.

The most common lamella thickness parameters are 25 and 50 mm. The main material for manufacturing is aluminum. This relatively inexpensive material is very durable, resistant to direct sunlight, very lightweight, easy to clean, which makes it possible to use blinds in rooms with high sanitary requirements. Blinds can even be used in medical facilities. However, they will successfully fit into the interior of an ordinary apartment due to a fairly wide range of colors, especially for products with a thinner lamella.

This type of sun-protection systems is made personally according to the measurements of the customer's windows. Initially, perforations are made along the entire length of the workpiece, and then strips of the required size are cut and holes are drilled for the so-called "ladder" through which the fastening thread will pass. Since there are many perforations and they are very small, some of them fall on the edge, thereby creating sharp irregularities that, over time, can damage the thread and lead to its complete chafing. Try to reassemble and disassemble perforated blinds less often - this will significantly extend their service life.
At the same time, the presence of holes on the slats does not allow you to completely protect yourself from direct rays during the daytime, and at night from the street you will see everything that is happening in your home. Therefore, if you are an inhabitant of the lower floors, then you will need to take care of additional means of light isolation.

This type of blinds will serve as an excellent solution for large spacious rooms with a wide panoramic window. They will add coziness and create a relaxing atmosphere even on the hottest afternoon, when there is a need to slightly diffuse too bright lighting.

Another application of this type of product can be used as doors. They are easy to install and do not require much space compared to other solutions. It is worth using them only in closed rooms, since they are good for both rain and wind and are not suitable for outdoor use. Ideal for dividing zones in a large house or for doors to a backyard.

In addition to aluminum, perforations are also found in wooden blinds. They create a unique coziness, and the holes facilitate the construction, because the lamellas made of wood are quite heavy. This option will be very environmentally friendly, here the edges of the holes are not so sharp and the thread is less prone to chafing, but this material has drawbacks. Wet cleaning of the structure is contraindicated, only dry cleaning. Moreover, they are expensive.

Holes as picture
Patterned products are a special type of perforated blinds. The designers decided to use the holes in the curtain as an element of the picture.
They are positioned so that the top of the window has a minimum number of openings for maximum sun protection. The lower half of the window does not need a lot of density, more light would not hurt there. This is how the basis of the picture is formed. For such purposes, roll-type blinds are suitable, because they consist of one continuous sheet.
Some studios make such protective curtains according to customer sketches or according to their own catalogs.

One of the popular variations of the perforated pattern is the city at night. With the curtains drawn down, you get the impression that you see in the distance glowing skyscrapers and endless streets. This will be a good solution for a teenager's bedroom, because at this age you want to feel like a part of something big.

In general, blinds have a large number of positive reviews. They are appropriate both in the kitchen and in the bedroom or living room. They are easy to care for and wash, they provide maximum protection from the sun and have a long service life. Another advantage is that they do not need curtain rods for their installation.
How to make measurements correctly?
To determine how wide the curtains should be, there are simple measurement rules:
- If the blinds will be hung on a door or on a separate window sash, then the width should be taken as the distance from one outer edge of the glazing bead to the other. Measure the height in the same way, and add 3.5-4 cm to the resulting size.
- When installing the structure on the windows it is necessary to measure the width and height from slope to slope. Add to the width such a value by which the blinds will protrude beyond the plastic window. It is worth adding to the height from 10 to 15 cm, depending on the final result.
Each type has its advantages and disadvantages, so it is worth deciding which solution is right for your home and wallet, evaluate all the pros and cons.
