You can attach curtains to the cornice in different ways. This largely depends on the preferences of the owner of the premises, because it is the aesthetic component that is usually the most important. The type of cornice is also the determining factor.
What to look for when choosing?
Fixing curtains on the cornice is a rather important question, because the wrong choice can completely ruin the whole impression of the beauty of the curtains and the interior as a whole.
When choosing a suitable method of fastening, they are guided not only by the general style of the room, but also by the density of the matter, the type of cornice. For example, you can place curtains on a drawstring only on tubular cornices. For curtain rods that are fixed to the ceiling, only methods such as hooks and curtain tape are available.

Some fastening types keep the curtain straight, while others create beautiful vertical folds. In some rooms, more strict options are preferable, in some, a touch of simplicity is welcomed.
You need to think in advance how exactly you want to see your window, whether lambrequins will be present, whether the window decoration will become an accent in the interior or whether it will simply complement the overall design. Consider whether the overall structure will be heavy or light.
The issue of finance is also important. Some of the bindings are cheap, others are pretty decent to install, and still others can be made by yourself from scraps of fabric.

Installation features
All options for cornices are divided into two large groups according to the method of attachment: ceiling and wall. Ceiling models are chosen when it is not possible to install a wall cornice. Typically, installation restrictions include fragile plasterboard walls or insufficient space for a wall cornice. Also, ceiling structures are chosen if the ceiling is not high enough and it is necessary to visually "pull" the room up.

Recently, stretch ceilings have gained popularity. They are usually equipped with plastic rails that only support a certain weight of the curtains.
In appearance, the cornices are subdivided as follows:
- Round. The version looks like a pipe and is found on the market in various diameters. Round cornices are usually decorated with different decorative tips on each side. Tubular cornice is made of wood, metal, plastic.
- Baguette. They look like a rectangular or curly strip that covers the entire "filling", reliably hiding the guide and hooks. They are made both from plastic and from valuable types of wood (a rather expensive option).

- Strings. The "youngest" type of curtain rods, it is a metal cable, on which the curtain is ultimately attached. Made of metal.
- Profile. Such curtain rods bend easily, as a result of which they can be given any shape. The demanded arched cornice is made just from an aluminum profile.
- Rail (tire) … The design is equipped with a groove on which balls with hooks are fixed. At the moment, tire curtain rods are mainly made of plastic.

Each of the listed types has both its advantages and disadvantages that must be considered when choosing. Try to study more information about the chosen cornice in order to know about all the strengths and weaknesses of your favorite option.
Interesting options
Each type of curtain requires an individual selection of the type of fastening. These types can vary. Some of them are suitable for attaching all curtains, others allow you to attach only curtains or only curtains. In order to correctly determine the variety, you need to answer a number of questions.
The first and foremost of them is logical to designate the question of stylistics. Each of the styles imposes its own restrictions on the choice of fastening. In order for the curtains to look beautiful and harmonious, it is imperative to note the stylistic features of the room as a whole and make a choice in accordance with them.

It is also necessary to note the features of the material from which the curtains are made. For example, filament curtains will look rather strange if you attach them to eyelets, but a magnet or curtain tape mount is perfect for them.
The features of the window must also be taken into account. More modern cornices and fixings are usually suitable for plastic windows, and traditional options for wooden ones.

Strings
Be careful when using strings. They are not suitable for every style. For example, in a classic room, Loft style, Minimalism, this type of attachment cannot be used.
Almost any material for making ties can be selected, from tulle to braid. Most often, however, they are made from the same fabric from which the curtains are sewn.

Ties can be fastened with bows or simple knots, while in either case they look romantic and lively. Often the choice in favor of such an attachment is given in rustic-style interiors.
But sometimes the choice of any other option, and not strings, is impossible, as in the above photo. The ties help to emphasize the beauty and uniqueness of the eaves design and look very appropriate.

Hinges
Tie-like loops fit any decor. There is no touch of romance and playfulness here. Like the strings, the buttonholes are usually made from the same material as the curtains, but sometimes it is better to choose a different fabric. Usually this rule applies to children.
All kinds of decor of the loops are welcome, for example, appliqués. Depending on the style of the room, the decoration method is also chosen.

This type of fastening is popular because it is very convenient: to hang the curtains on the hinges, you just need to pass the curtain rod through them. Loops can be blind or with a fastener. In the second case, the loop at the base is equipped with a Velcro or a button that allows you to detach it from the cornice without removing the cornice itself.
It is possible to "mix" the loops of different curtains with each other, resulting in a very interesting effect, as in the above photo.

Eyelets
This is a universal type of fastening that fits absolutely any interior. The eyelets hold fabrics of any density well, while the upper edge of the curtains does not deform, but delicately folds in even assemblies.
Window curtains and curtains are also attached to the eyelets to delimit the interior space. This mount looks very elegant and modest, at the same time acting as a bright accent in the entire interior.

Eyelets can be fitted into any interior, depending on the decor of the fabric itself. For example, the collared curtain on the eyelets fits perfectly into the Provencal interior.

Drawstring
The curtain is a "pocket" through which the cornice is passed. At the same time, the top of the curtains is invisible.
Most often, you can find curtains on the drawstring, since this type of fastening is best suited for light, thin fabrics. Heavy curtains with a drawstring cannot be found, since it is not used in classic interiors such as Baroque or Rococo.

Most often, curtains on the curtains are hung in rustic interiors. Also, this method of fastening is used to fasten the curtains of the "cafe", as in the photo.

Braid
More often you can find such a name for the braid as curtain tape. It is attached from the inside of the curtains, allowing you to adjust their width. One of the advantages of curtain tape is that after washing, such curtains do not need to be "adjusted" again to the size of the curtain rod. At the same time, the same quality is a minus: ironing curtains on the tape is not particularly convenient.
The curtain tape allows you to further hang the curtains on hooks and fix them on the tire cornice. Other types of curtain rods are also suitable for fastening.
Usually the curtains on the braid are hung in several rows: tulle, curtains, lambrequin. The image shows one of these options.

Rings
Since Soviet times, curtains on rings have been very popular, and for good reason. This type looks no worse than eyelets, but at the same time it allows you to choose any rings or combine them with each other, for example, if the room is made in the Boho-chic style.
Most often, rings are used in a Techno style room, but you can also find them in a classic interior (example in the photo). The rings sewn to the curtains certainly require the ability to completely remove the curtain. They look best on a tubular cornice.

Magnets
Fastening curtains with magnets is an alternative to the usual fastening with hooks. In this case, the magnet performs the same role as the Velcro for the loops: it allows you to easily and quickly remove the curtains from the cornice. The choice of different options is huge: you can give preference to almost invisible mounts, or you can prefer decorative magnets decorated with rhinestones. Magnets are also selected depending on the mood that needs to be created in the room.

Magnetic curtains look best on a modern string cornice. This combination looks very stylish. The photo shows the cornice and magnets, made in the same theme.
Magnetic mounts are often supplemented with curtain clips of the same design.

Clips, hooks, clothespins
As usual, the curtains were fixed using this type of fastening. Today, clothespins and clips are made from both metal and plastic. They are extremely inconvenient to use, as they spoil the fabric of the curtains, leaving puffs on it. For thin fabrics, this type of fastening is categorically not suitable; with existing alternatives, it is much more logical to choose magnets as a fastener.

Clips, clothespins and hooks are chosen as fasteners when the hostess makes the curtains herself. It's easy enough to make it. The photo shows the option of attaching the curtain with clothespins.

How to decorate custom windows?
In houses or apartments, it is not uncommon to find windows of a different shape, different from the standard rectangular one.
Now very common panoramic openings. If the option with traditional sliding curtains does not appeal to you, pay attention to the hourglass tulle. It is suitable for both straight and sloped windows. With the help of tulle installed in a similar way, doors can also be decorated, since it is attached directly to the sash on special cornices.
Triangular windows usually made with pleated blinds. This type is called so because it is a fabric of specially treated fabric, pressed in the shape of an accordion. Pleated blinds can be laid in any shape, including fan-shaped. They are secured with double-sided tape.

For the design of semicircular window openings use not only arched cornices. Curtains attached to an ordinary wall cornice look beautiful. Moreover, the cornice can be installed both above the curved edge, and below.
It will look interesting if you fix the curtains with forged cornices.

When framing windows that are much taller than a person's height, a pointer is provided in the mounting structure for moving the curtains. With its help, you can easily and easily open or close the curtains without pulling on the panels themselves. Such a device is very convenient. The pointer can be easily hidden behind the curtain, and, if necessary, taken out again.
