A comfortable and cozy home cannot be imagined without a beautifully curtained window. From the abundance of models, the most relevant today are roller blinds. This is due to the fact that window frames made of plastic and metal-plastic are becoming more and more widespread. They do not need to be hidden behind thick curtains: plastic windows are beautiful in themselves. That is why light filters are so popular today. Roll structures can be simply hung on the window, and the sunlight will be subdued. Such curtains are a worthy replacement for traditional blinds.
Advantages and disadvantages
The roll structure consists of a special fabric cloth and a movable holder shaft. It allows you to roll up, fix and unfold the curtain. The lower edge of the fabric is weighted with a bar, which does not allow the fabric to deform. Like any mechanism, roller blinds have their pros and cons. Positive qualities include:
- simple operation - the simplest possible mechanism of action;
- the ability to change the light level - almost all modifications perfectly protect from the sun's rays;
- low price - compared to conventional curtains, the price is much lower, since less material is used in their manufacture;
- compactness - saves space, taking up little space;
- ease of care - thanks to the materials used, they are easy to keep clean.
Of the minuses, it can be noted that roll-up models cannot always fit into the interior, since this is a very minimalistic design that will not be appropriate in every style of room.

Open
The curtain fabric is always in sight. Roller shutters are mounted on the wall, ceiling and window opening. Lifting of the blade is carried out by a chain or spring mechanism.
Benefits:

- save space by taking up little space.
Disadvantages:
- if the curtains are down, it is inconvenient to open the window;
- get dirty faster;
- installation involves drilling.
Open structures are intended for the design of wide openings, panoramic windows and bay windows.
Closed UNI cassette curtains
The shaft, together with the fabric wrapped around it, is placed in a plastic box. The cassette box is mounted on the frame or sash of a plastic window. The unfolding of the curtain is carried out by a mechanism by means of a chain or spring. Thus, you can completely curtain the window, and if you screw the canvas onto the shaft, it opens. At the bottom, the hem has a weighting agent that helps to keep the shape of the fabric. To ensure that the fabric adheres to the window, the curtain is equipped with side guides.
Benefits:
- strong fixation of the canvas, does not deviate when opening;
- compactness;
- minimal care;
- easy installation;
- reliably protects from ultraviolet radiation and prying eyes;
- the color of the structure of the box and guides matches the color of the frame, so they are practically invisible if folded;
- the guides are mounted on a glazing bead, the fabric lies tightly on the glass;
- free opening of the sash;
- the window sill remains free, it can be used for various needs;
- used on dormers and other window structures;
- low price.
They have one drawback - it is a very expensive design.
Roll system Mini
Simple roll-to-roll design with compact roller. The lifting of the blade is regulated by a chain. The small dimensions of the shaft make it possible to install them on each sash of a plastic window. No window drilling is required for installation, the frame remains intact. To prevent the canvas from sagging when the sash is open, the lower rail is fixed with two magnetic holders. The string guides help the curtain move. They are glued to the frame with double-sided foam tape. Thanks to this fastening, the sash can be opened in any plane.
The system is inexpensive. She is petite. All these qualities have ensured a good demand for the Mini roll system. Often these systems are used when darkening a window, but complete darkness cannot be achieved due to the slots on the sides.
Benefits:
- installation does not require drilling;
- fishing line is used as guides;
- the possibility of opening the sash;
- free window sill.
Disadvantages:
- the design is not so strong, requires careful operation;
- glue may melt at high temperatures.
Structural elements
Cassette curtains are extremely popular. Almost all elements perform their function perfectly, for this reason, the product is reliable, practical and versatile:
Cassette. The material of manufacture is often plastic, mostly white, but it can also be colored, sometimes there is an imitation of metal and wood. In this case, its color must match the color of the window frame. Inside there is a curtain rolled into a roll. The inner space of the cassette provides reliable protection for the fabric, dust, moisture, smoke, soot do not pass there. Therefore, roll-up models are confidently installed even in the kitchen. The cassette is neatly attached to the plastic frame with double-sided foam tape. Drilling plastic windows is not required
Guides. Roll structures differ in different guide options depending on the frame profile. UNI-1 - flat, they can be installed if the glazing bead depth is 12 mm or more. UNI-2 - U-shaped. Such curtains are installed on windows with narrow or non-standard glazing beads
The guides make the blade move smoothly on the glass.
Chain. Adjustment of the height of the curtain on the window is carried out using a chain of control of the latch. This mechanism is very convenient and simple, even small children can easily use it. Separately, it should be said that thanks to the chain, the canvas does not need to be taken with your hands, unlike simple curtains
Canvas. The fabric for the manufacture of roll-up models is treated with special compounds that do not allow it to fade, absorb dust and dirt. The impregnation contains antibacterial components. According to the degree of shading, fabrics for roller shutters are opaque, darkening and transparent. Opaque fabric is used for windows that face east or west
Zebra curtains
The zebra curtains, which are in constant demand, stand apart. This model contains two layers of fabric, each layer has horizontal stripes, where transparent and opaque stripes alternate. The so-called "day-night" model makes it possible to control the level of illumination in a room by analogy with blinds. At the moment of coincidence of the transparent stripes, sunlight penetrates as freely as possible. With electric drive
For maximum convenience, roller shutters are equipped with an electric drive, so the process of lifting the curtains becomes automated. The lifting mechanisms set in motion the power electric motors, which are part of the curtain design, in addition to the canvas, shaft and box, as well as a remote control panel. For rooms with high ceilings, in the case of dormers, if they are located in hard-to-reach places - in all these settings it is very convenient to open the curtains at the push of a button.
