Suspended LED luminaires are widely used in industry and in everyday life. They have many advantages, such as durability and economy, which make them the preferred choice for lighting many spaces.
Features of the
LED lighting devices (or LED from the English Light-Emitting Diod) are based on a different principle of operation than ordinary incandescent lamps.
The lamp is based on a metal base, a body made of non-fusible metals, a power board and a disk with LEDs, as well as a transparent glass dome. During the fusion of the two materials that make up each LED light bulb on top of each other (one of them is charged with positive particles, and the other with negative particles), the two substances are mixed in the LED housing and heat is released.
More than a century ago, materials were discovered that emit a glow when energy is released. For a long time, LEDs were used only as service lamps, signaling the operation of electronic devices, since they emitted dim light of unusual shades and did not burn out for a long time.
But the industrial and scientific technologies of our day have made it possible to find substances that emit brighter and more noticeable light. LEDs made from such materials give people the ability to get functional lighting fixtures.
Diode lighting products are widely used in daily life. In particular, pendant lamps are often used to illuminate large rooms with high ceilings, such as in a manufacturing facility or warehouse. In the workshop, it is very important to have good, even lighting for safe and comfortable work. Almost always, production is arranged in rather large rooms, which are problematic to illuminate with ordinary ceiling lamps. Therefore, LED linear lamps, fixed on cables, come to the rescue.
I must say that in the past, fluorescent lamps were often used for lighting in such cases. But they cast a very harsh cold light that can negatively affect the health and well-being of the eyes. In addition, they flicker and burn out rather quickly.
The lamps contain mercury inside and are therefore unsafe in production.
LED lamps consume 6-8 times less electricity than ordinary household lamps or alternative electrical light sources. Therefore, it is most advisable to purchase large pendant lamps for lighting large spaces with LED ones.
Despite their higher cost, such lamps quickly pay for themselves, since they can burn continuously for 5 years. This is especially important in a responsible production or industrial environment where lighting is provided all day long, and changing lamps at the wrong time can be a serious problem.
Such lamps are insensitive to cold, so they can be used at temperatures down to -40. The only thing to be careful with is the moisture level. LED bulbs deteriorate in humid, warm climates.
Currently, LEDs are the most durable type of lamps. They require minimal attention and maintenance, and a single lamp can last up to 10 years. In the process of manufacturing lamps, no harmful chemicals and compounds are used, therefore their use is safe for humans and the environment.
Where are they used?
LED luminaires are surprisingly versatile. They are used everywhere: both in the workspace and in everyday life.
Large areas of factories, factories and warehouses are conveniently illuminated by hanging large lighting fixtures that cast bright uniform light. It does not flicker and is safe for the human eye.
LED lamps are also convenient because of their light scattering mechanism. Due to the design and arrangement of the LEDs, they can only shine directly in front of them. There are special built-in devices for diffusing light, however, even lamps equipped with it, shine slightly differently than incandescent lamps and other lamps. therefore easy to adjust the angle of the lamp and light diffusionhighlighting specific areas without wasting energy.
Very often, pendant diode lamps are used for street lighting.
As already mentioned, they consume very little electricity, while guaranteeing high power and brightness of the light, which is very convenient when it is necessary to illuminate large spaces for a long time.
Besides, LED bulbs are very durable: They are not easy to break or hurt by bullies. They do not explode or cause overheating problems. There are cases when incandescent lamps, left unattended, melt through the adjacent surface. In this regard, LED lamps are absolutely safe and can work for days without interruption. They are not afraid of low temperatures.
Large office spaces also need competent lighting. It is best to purchase an LED pendant light for your office that is fixed to the ceiling. It will not take up space on employees' desks, but will provide uniform lighting and a comfortable working environment.
It is also the most economical option. Often, the lights in large business centers are not turned off at night. When using energy-intensive lighting methods, building owners risk getting a solid electricity bill at the end of the month.
Some people use pendant lights in their homes because of their cost effectiveness and high quality. However, it must be borne in mind that their use is possible only with a ceiling height of 3 m.
There is a huge variety of varieties of LED pendant lights on the lighting market today.
- Street. Used to illuminate gazebos, corners and other objects outside the house.
- Industrial. Most often they are attached to the ceiling with cables. Used in factories, workshops, warehouses, etc.
For the office. Choosing a backlight for an office building, you can choose both a linear model on cables, which is so often used for industrial purposes, and single-lamp luminaires. Overhead lamps along the perimeter of the walls look futuristic and unusual. They evenly illuminate the room and look very aesthetically pleasing due to the fact that the wiring and fixings are hidden in the wall
For home. Often, pendant lights for homes have a swivel design. They attach to ceilings or other horizontal surfaces and can rotate 360 degrees. They are often installed in the kitchen or bedroom. Antique lamps are another popular option. They are made from metal or other materials that look expensive and luxurious. For them, you can use special Edison bulbs, which are imitations of old ones. Flame options are also popular, evoking flashy chandelier chandeliers
In shape, LED pendant lights are:
- Rectangular. Traditional shape for pendant lamps, ideal for lighting large rooms. Due to the wide variety of styles, they can look completely different.
- Bell. LED lamps of this shape are equipped with a lampshade, most often metal, which directs the light to one place and prevents it from scattering. They are usually typical for single-tube pendant lights. Such lamps look cute and cozy, so they are used in small cafes and home kitchens or living rooms.
- Square. The square base is suspended from the ceiling with cables. Usually designed for one light bulb.
- Ring. The round-shaped luminaire is a disk of light that is attached to a surface or on ropes.
How to choose?
When choosing a pendant lamp, it must be borne in mind that the power of such bulbs is measured on a different scale. Focusing on the usual number of watts, you can choose a lamp that is too bright. On average, 8-10 watts of an LED bulb equals a 60 watts incandescent bulb. This parameter should be guided by when choosing.
If the luminaires will be located very high in the ceiling, then you can choose a higher power than usual, due to the diffusion of the light flux. But the main thing is not to overdo it.
Bulbs in general, including LED ones, differ not only in brightness, but also in the warmth-coldness of the light. They have a shade of yellowish, orange, bluish, which create a certain atmosphere in the room.
In a work environment in a factory or office, it is best to choose a luminaire with a neutral temperature. Cold light seems uncomfortable and tires the eyes.
For restaurants, cafes, hotels and houses, you can choose a warm range. Yellow and orange shades soothe and relax, create a feeling of coziness. Pinkish tones set up a romantic mood.
Depending on the quality of lighting, the light transmission parameter varies greatly. The point is that really good lighting needs to reproduce colors correctly. The recommended values are around 80 points.
Modern lamps also have different lighting scattering angles. So, table lamps have values from 30 degrees and higher, ceiling chandeliers - from 90 to 180. Industrial lamps and light sources for large rooms should have a large angle of dispersion: from 180 to 360 in order to cope with their task as efficiently as possible.
