Stretch ceilings are in trend today. They are also actively used for finishing the ceiling of the corridor. What types does it happen and what should be considered when choosing it? We will try to understand these issues.

Features of the
Stretch ceilings look great in any room, even in the bathroom. However, the corridor requires a special approach to the choice of stretch ceiling. This is due to the functional features of this room.

The corridor is a kind of "gateway" to other rooms of the dwelling. As a rule, it has the shape of a rectangle, in which the length is much greater than the width. In addition, there are usually no windows in the corridors, which deprives the room of natural light and makes it a little difficult to choose an interior design.

Another feature of the corridor is the lowered level of its ceiling. And since with the installation of a stretch ceiling, the ceiling level in the corridor will become even lower, and this will affect the general appearance of this room, it is necessary to choose a stretch canvas among the huge variety of shapes and types available today with special care.

Ideally, the stretch ceiling installed in the corridor should visually expand the room, it is highly desirable to illuminate it, while being aesthetically pleasing to the overall appearance of the room.

Views
Today, the variety of models of stretch ceilings will surprise even the most discerning buyer. We will consider the main types of stretch fabrics further.
Glossy
One of the reasons for the high demand for stretch ceilings is its glossy surface. This property allows you to visually increase the space of the room and positively affect the illumination of the corridor. Glossy shine will also benefit from the height of the corridor walls. The color of the ceiling in this case should be combined with the color of the walls. It is thanks to the gloss that you can achieve the effect of "playing with advice" in the interior design of the corridor.
Light reflection adds volume to the room and is a creative solution in the interior design of the corridor. True, this medal also has a downside - you need to take care of the glossy surface constantly, since it is prone to dirt, and careless cleaning can leave stains noticeable to the eye.

Matte
This type of stretch fabric does not shine and does not reflect the interior "content" of the room. It can be combined with any interior style due to its discreetness. In fact, no seams are visible on the matte canvas. The difference between glossy and matte canvases is only external, while the properties of both types of ceilings - to retain moisture and hide the unevenness of the ceiling of the room, are exactly the same.
But the undoubted advantage of a matte ceiling surface over a glossy one is ease of use and maintenance. After cleaning, there are practically no streaks on the matte finish.

Satin
This look is externally similar to elite fabrics for ceilings. It is a kind of "golden mean" between loud glossy and calm matte surfaces. Satin mirror reflects the interior of the room, however, the light and brightness of the shine of this type of stretch ceiling do not hurt the eyes, they are not tiring to look at. It is a pearlescent shine, calm and mesmerizing. By the way, satin canvases tend to play with their "color". Their color, like a chameleon, changes depending on the lighting.
Due to its unique texture, satin fabric looks like high-quality suede, and the color range of satin stretch ceilings reaches 120 colors and shades. The effect of luxury from their use in the interior of the corridor will increase if you order a model with a pattern, with a "starry sky" effect or with a metallic sheen. A definite plus of satin stretch fabrics is their antistatic effect.
The texture of this type of stretch ceilings prevents dust from settling on the surface and water droplets from condensing. That is why satin fabrics are not susceptible to contamination. Hypoallergenicity is their distinctive feature. They are harmless even for allergenic and asthmatic patients.

Tissue
Its main feature is its structure. It is made from fabric impregnated with special substances. The stretched fabric looks like a flawlessly stuccoed or painted ceiling. It should be noted that such canvases for stretch ceilings are not produced in our country. They are produced only in Germany and Switzerland (the quality is equal).
The demand for them is due to their appearance. For the interior of a luxurious mansion or elite apartments - the very thing. Another feature of fabric ceilings is the ability to combine them with other types of ceiling surfaces (be it drywall or panels). Various patterns can be applied to the fabric (although only specialists in this field can do this). Fabric ceilings look advantageous combined with spotlights and large chandeliers.

Soaring
Their peculiarity is to give the ceiling the effect of "floating in the air". This is especially true for high-tech interiors. To understand how this effect is achieved, it is necessary to study the structure of making soaring stretch fabrics. When attaching a canvas specially made for a soaring ceiling, a gap remains between the canvas itself and the ceiling of the room, into which the illumination in the form of drawings is then installed.
The lighting installed in this way creates the effect of "floating" the ceiling. LED luminaires installed in floating stretch ceilings perform several functions. Their operation can significantly reduce energy costs (LEDs are very economical in this regard).

In terms of aesthetics, the lighting of the floating ceiling will make the corridor cozy, and if a colored LED strip is installed in the ceiling, then it will be possible to control it remotely using a remote control. I must say that such "floating" stretch ceilings visually enlarge the room, you can even say "Smooth out" the corners.

Two-tier
The times of whitewashed and papered ceilings have sunk into oblivion. In the modern world, design solutions have such a wide range that they allow you to create multi-level structures. There is no limit to the shapes and colors of this type of design. Multilevel stretch ceilings are multifunctional: in addition to bewitching the eye of beauty, they solve the problem of differences in ceiling height in the corridor.
In addition to the complicated design, it is possible to install LEDs, air conditioning and other options behind the levels. And with the help of decorative panels it is possible to give the corridor a visual "space".

With photo printing
This view will be a bright and memorable element in the design of the corridor. Thanks to the use of photo printing on stretch ceilings, designers are able to translate the most daring decorative ideas into reality, and the owners of the repair make the design of their corridor unique.
Photo printing is applied to seamless stretch fabrics and is absolutely harmless from the point of view of ecology in its composition.

If other types of stretch ceilings have hundreds of options, then variations with photo printing are in the millions. The customer only has to choose the "plot" he likes in the photo bank, and soon the drawing he has chosen will be released on the canvas of large-scale printing. Current technologies allow placing a single image on a canvas up to 5 meters in size.

One and the same photo printing pattern looks completely different on a glossy, matte and satin stretch canvas. Printing is carried out in 3 types of categories: eco-solvent, latex and ultraviolet. Of these, eco-solvent printing is in the greatest demand, since it is produced with the use of persistent solvent dyes and is used to create drawings in 3D.

To create large-scale images, it is recommended to use latex printing, and for a format less than 2 meters, ultraviolet printing is quite suitable, the colors of which look expressive even in a darkened room (given the low illumination of the corridor, using this type of printing will be quite a good solution in design).

Pleasant news for those who decide to apply photo printing on the ceiling surface will be information about what is behind this type of stretch canvases very easy to care for. At the same time, the brightness of the colors of the photo printing will delight the owners for a very long time. It will not fade.

Colors
As for the choice of the color of the stretch ceiling for the corridor, in this case, the designers advise focusing on the features of the room (corridor). For aesthetics, the color of the ceiling should be compatible with the color of other elements of the interior design of the corridor. In the event that the color of the ceiling is not a shade of the color of the walls or other elements of the corridor room, then the selected color should at least not spoil the overall appearance of the corridor design.

In general, I must say that in terms of color, pure white remains the "classic of the genre". They are not afraid to use it, it is compatible with any colors in the design and the illumination of the corridor will not suffer in any way from the choice of the owners of white. More daring natures, of course, love extravagance and creativity in the interior and do not want to be limited to the solid color of the ceiling surface. Such natures choose options with drawings.

If the white color visually enlarges any room (including the corridor), then the black color is considered to visually reduce the height of the room. Note that the perception of a black ceiling surface in the modern world is twofold: on the one hand, this gloomy color can quickly tire, cause depression, apathy; on the other hand, with a competent approach to creating a design, black color will look very fashionable and solemn in the corridor, especially since it can be supplemented with creative elements that will make it not so “gloomy”, but even vice versa.
For example, when using LED lamps in a certain sequence, you can create the effect of a "starry sky" or a galaxy pattern.

In addition to the 120 available colors and shades of stretch ceiling surfaces, designers never tire of experimenting and bringing out new colors by mixing existing ones. So, they created a brown color, which is not in the main color palette. Its designers got it by mixing yellow and gray colors. The same result is obtained with the combination of green + red.
Brown is considered the color of luxury and gives a sense of coziness, comfort and tranquility. In the interior, it goes well with beige, red and white colors.

In various rooms
A stretch ceiling can bring an impressive positive effect to the overall look of a corridor. However, in order for the final result not to cause disappointment, it is imperative to take into account the characteristics of the room in which the stretch ceiling is planned to be installed.
If the length of the corridor is much greater than the width, then a matte stretch ceiling or satin will look most advantageous in such a corridor.

If the height of the room is impressive, then the customer can afford a multi-level stretch ceiling.

If the corridor is low in height, then you need a glossy ceiling or stretch ceiling with photo printing.
If the use of illumination is provided in a low corridor, then preference should be given to spotlights. The use of spotlights (lamps) is preferable for spacious corridors.

Interior options
In general, a corridor is a rather specific area with its own characteristics, and therefore its design is somewhat problematic. Often, the layout of private houses and apartments is designed in such a way that a relatively scanty space is allocated to the corridor as a room, and therefore the problematic nature of its design is reflected literally in everything, right down to the choice of stretch ceilings.
In this case, the aesthetic function of tensioning surfaces is, first of all, in the visual expansion of the corridor space as a room, and only then in the addition of bright colors or individuality of the general appearance of the corridor.

For example, it is quite easy to use a stretch ceiling in a long corridor (in terms of its installation) and it will look very advantageous there in combination with LED lighting (after all, it is not possible to hang a chandelier in all corridors).
Visually, the room will appear wider. It is even better if, among the large selection, you give preference to a matte canvas.

If the corridor is tiny, then for such a small room, glossy stretch canvases will be a real find. True, the option should be chosen one-color and one-level.
If there is a shortage of natural light, it is advisable to choose the option of stretch ceilings with built-in light bulbs (LEDs).

So, we have considered many different options for stretch ceilings both in terms of the structure of the canvas, and in terms of color palette, and in terms of functionality. After all that has been said, the choice remains with the customer. In one thing, you definitely will not be mistaken: no matter what type you choose, they all perfectly perform their main functions - leveling the ceiling surface in the hallway, retaining moisture, repelling dust from their surface.
