Regardless of the style in which the room is decorated, there will always be a place for a living plant in it. This is the element that will liven up even a gloomy room and give it a special mood. True, plants, like other decorative details, must be selected wisely, taking into account the peculiarities of the style with which you are working.

Features of the
Plants require care, but for this they thank you for their blooming appearance. They are used to decorate a room and give it a natural look. And as a bonus, residents receive clean and oxygenated air.
With the help of living plants and flowers, you can not only decorate the room, but also divide it into several zones.
Fortunately, this is not difficult to do, since the seeds of different plants, and everything you need to grow them is sold in specialized stores, so you just have to decide on the desired composition, select the necessary parts to create it and plant it in boxes / pots.

Maintaining your green oasis in proper shape is also not as difficult as it seems at first glance.
Some plants are completely undemanding to care for, so if you do not have time for gardening or you are constantly on the road, then you can choose them.
Other species are a little more difficult to cope with, but with practice you will learn how to grow even the most exotic flowers at home.

Types and characteristics
All indoor plants can be divided into three main groups:
- the first of them is decorative leaf … The main attractive detail in these plants is the leaves. They can be wide and green, like a fern, or colored. These are centenarians among living indoor plants. They love coolness and stay green all year long without withering or shedding leaves. Climbing specimens are also found among the plants from this group;
- the second group - ornamental flowering plantsthat live in pots. These include orchids, spathiphyllum, roses or foamiran flowers, for example. Such specimens throw out the bud only for a short time. For the rest of the months, they resemble a simple leafy plant. There are also flowers that delight the eye only once at a time. As a rule, they are grown for some special date and then thrown away;

- the third group is cacti … Fresh flowers often look artificial. They are loved by inexperienced gardeners for their unpretentiousness. Cacti are able to survive without water for almost a month, without changing outwardly. They can be different: covered with thorns or down, low or tall, flowering or evergreen;
- it is worth highlighting ornamental trees and dried flowers … Ornamental bamboo trees, indoor palms or cotton flowers are grown at home a little less often, so this group does not have a specific name. They look attractive all year round, but they usually require special care: a certain temperature, regular watering or fertilization.

In various rooms
Each owner is looking for a place for his "green friends" himself. But there are certain unwritten rules that help determine which flower to put in which room.
In the kitchen
Plants are placed in the kitchen, which take up little space. Neat potted flowers, such as violets, look best in the kitchen interior. You can choose several plants for the windowsill, or you can hang flowers in special baskets.

In the living room
The living room, as a rule, is one of the most spacious rooms in the apartment, which means that fans of ornamental plants have a place to roam here. You can plant bonsai in boxes or plant lush broadleaf shrubs.
If the room is not very bright, then shade-loving flowers will suit you, and in a room with large windows it is better to place plants that die without light. Live sprouts in tubs and pots can be combined with artificial ones.
Plants in pots placed in a row can replace your partition, dividing the room into zones. This is the main method of using ornamental plants with benefit.

In the bedroom
In the bedroom, flowers and other living plants can also act as a natural air purifier. Choose plants suitable for this purpose, such as cacti, kalanchoe or aloe.
But flowers with a pronounced aroma are best avoided in the bedroom.… Even if you like their scent, when concentrated, it will give you a headache. These "negative" flowers include all types of lilies. Also, do not put a tub of fern in the bedroom. This plant will become your competitor in the fight for clean air, because, unlike cacti, it emits carbon dioxide cactus, absorbing oxygen.

On the balcony
If you have a balcony, then it can also be turned into a real home greenhouse. Glazed spaces can serve as a home for plants all year round, but on an open balcony, the placement of flowers is limited to the warm season. With the change of seasons, you will have to look for a place for them in the apartment.
All light-loving plants can be displayed on the balcony. Place them in tubs, boxes, or wicker baskets suspended from the ceiling. Thus, you will have a great place to relax in a city setting.

How to choose?
When choosing plants, you need to consider whether they fit into the style in which the room is decorated. A palm tree in a room stylized as a Russian hut will look ridiculous, but in a modern studio or living room in the art deco style, it will take pride of place.

Exotic
If in everyday life you do not have enough bright colors, and you dream of distant countries, then you can decorate your house in some exotic style. In that green pets such as yucca, dracaena or palm trees will help you … A broad-leaved aloe or sanseviria bush with exquisite elongated leaves will help you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the southern deserts.
And in the apartment ficuses, miniature maples or low-growing conifers will look organic in the Japanese style … You can also opt for a dainty cherry blossom flower or an evergreen bonsai. And from small sprouts that will decorate a shelf or table, you can note azaleas, orchids or stunted chrysanthemums. In addition, you can decorate your home with a small tree, delighting with delicious fruits - lemon or orange.

Classic
Finding the perfect plant is more difficult for a classic interior. A room decorated in this style should be thought out to the smallest detail. The chosen decorative bush should not reduce the cost of the interior. Plants with decorative foliage, such as monstera, are suitable for you. Will fit into a room with a classic design and asparagus or nephrolepis.
You can emphasize good taste and love for beautiful things by decorating your home with a decorative rose or azalea. Orchid twigs look just as luxurious in such an interior.

Scandinavian style
This style is characterized by the use of fresh flowers. But this does not mean that you need to turn your apartment into a greenhouse or greenhouse. There shouldn't be too many flowers. One or two large or three or four small pets are enough in order to decorate even a spacious room.
Elegant orchids with thin branches and light flowers look good in such a minimalistic interior. In addition, you can choose some kind of unusual flower, for example, myrtle, guzmania or liveston.

Retro
In a room styled in a retro direction, there is also a place for flowers. But they should be bright and noticeable. For this reason, giant single plants or bushes with a large number of leaves are most often chosen for such an interior. A retro-style room will be decorated with Kalanchoe, Hovea or Cyperus.

Expert advice
Greening your house or apartment must be approached responsibly. Not only should the plant please you, but you should also please it. Provide the flower with the right living conditions and it will stay beautiful for as long as possible. The advice of experts who know exactly what conditions a particular plant needs helps to choose the right place to place a green pet.

Shine
For normal existence and development, plants need light. At the same time, there shouldn't be too much of it. Direct sunlight will only harm the plant. However, there are exceptions. For example, aloe, bright fuchsias and azaleas or jasmine. These flowers are not afraid of the sun, so they can be safely displayed on the windowsill. Exotic plants such as cacti and succulents also love the sun.
It is better not to place the rest of the specimens in direct sunlight.… So, for example, violets, although they are considered light-loving flowers, will not last long on a windowsill in a room facing the south. The same applies to poinsettias or begonias. And in dark rooms, where there is little natural light, unpretentious northern plants or flowers that can easily tolerate such harsh conditions will comfortably accommodate.

Of the different species, it is worth highlighting the saxifrage, fern and monstera. And of the graceful flowers, passionflower is distinguished by a dislike for light.
Humidity
Also, in different ways (like the lack of light), plants experience irregular watering. Flowers with wide decorative leaves cannot survive for a long time without water. For example, syngoneum, alocasia or pilea. If the ground dries up, then they begin to fade rapidly. Plants with delicate flowers that cannot accumulate enough moisture are also in need of water.
But cacti and succulents can be safely left without watering for several days. Excess fluid will only harm them. They are also able to accumulate water in the leaves and exist for a couple of days without watering dracaena, monstera or crassula.

Temperature
The last point to consider when planning how to place flowers is the ability of plants to survive in conditions of low and high temperatures. Not all flowers prefer a warm climate. For most of them, the ideal temperature is 25 degrees and below..
If you are planning to decorate a room in an exotic style and purchase citrus fruits, palms or giant cacti, then you should create conditions for them in which they will grow, as in wildlife. That is, it is necessary to provide them with the necessary heat. The apartment should not have sudden changes in temperature, even in winter or autumn.
If you consider all these basic tips, then plants will live much longer, and you can admire their beauty for years.

Beautiful examples and good options
Fresh flowers are the best interior decoration. You can verify this by looking at several examples in the interior:
- hanging baskets … To save space in the kitchen, it is better to replace plants in planters or simple pots with flowers in hanging baskets. Light pots with special fasteners can be fixed where they will not interfere with you, for example, over a wicker basket, which still takes up space in the aisle;
- French sophistication … If you like modern French style, you will also like this simple interior. A bright living room with soft pink pillows looks empty if you do not use decorative elements. But correctly selected flowers revive her. It is enough to put three large tubs of flowers in the corner next to the window, and the room will be transformed. And so that the different-colored pots do not spoil the appearance of the room, use special plain covers;

exquisite oriental garden… Japan, with its sophistication and desire for minimalism, now attracts many. Including designers. One of the most "Japanese" flowers is the graceful orchid. If a living orchid is not enough for you, then you can complement the interior with wall-to-wall murals, on which this flower will also be depicted
In such an interior, the details should also be matched to the characteristics of your flower. For example, small pillows go well with pink orchid petals. A low Japanese table and a figurine that decorates it helps to emphasize the exoticism of the style.

Greenhouse on the balcony… If all the previous options seem too boring to you, and you want to surround yourself with greenery from all sides, and not just decorate the room with one flower, then you can equip yourself with a mini-greenhouse on the glazed balcony
Flowers here can be placed anywhere: on the wall, on window sills, on the floor and even under the ceiling. Don't be afraid to place different plants in the same room. In this monastery, ferns will look quite organic next to palms, cacti, ivy and roses. Choose all the flowers you like. Feel free to use them to decorate your balcony.

And so that you feel comfortable observing all this beauty, install a comfortable sofa decorated with colorful pillows on the balcony, or put a glass table with beautiful chairs there. Here you can even dine with friends or family, enjoying nature in a city setting.
Ever green, blooming, or completely devoid of leaves and flowers - you can use any plant to decorate your home. There are no restrictions and outgoing fashion trends - choose what you like and feel free to use for decoration.
