A small house from a foam block with a useful area of 48 square meters is a low-budget and at the same time highly effective solution for people who want to live outside the city, but do not associate themselves, for example, with a long-term mortgage due to low incomes.
Features of the
A 6 by 8 m foam block house occupies an area on a plot of about 50 m2. The area of the residential and utility areas useful for practical needs is limited to just 48 m2.
Foam block houses of any size are distinguished by a good ability to retain heat. A house thoroughly insulated on all sides retains heat for several hours in winter, even as a result of a complete cessation of any heat supply.
In order to heat such a territory, maintaining a minimum comfortable temperature of + 18 … 21 ° C, when "overboard" is about zero and below, only 1-2 kW of electricity per hour will be required.
The floors in such a house, despite the walls that retain heat well, are also fenced off from the cold foundation (reinforced concrete) with the help of mineral wool to exclude the so-called cold bridges along the entire outer perimeter. Even greater protection from the cold is provided by a layer of expanded clay concrete, poured between the logs under the entire area of the boardwalk.
The foam block, despite its loose (bubble) structure, can withstand significant loads. Load-bearing walls 30-40 cm thick are capable of withstanding the load from the ceiling, attic and roof structures weighing up to 10 tons. Calculations show that the foam block is suitable for the construction of full-fledged two-story houses, while the structure will stand for 35-50 years.
The project of a 6x8 m house with an attic fully justifies itself. If you are not that inhospitable summer resident who loves loneliness and solitude in life, then with such an area it is difficult to make sure that the house is suitable for receiving guests at any time. The simplest version of the first floor, with a usable area of 48 m2, includes at least 5 rooms.
Bedroom of 16 m2 no frills. Here you can install a double sofa bed, TV, wardrobe for casual clothes, underwear and bedding. A sideboard, a small table and a pair of folding chairs will also fit.
Living room combined with kitchen - 32 m2. Dining options are available by setting up a full dining table with multiple chairs. Kitchen prefabricated furniture and an equipped sink with a sink will allow you to fully engage in cooking without disturbing other family members and guests.
The remaining usable space will go for a combined bathroom with a shower (10 m2), an entrance hall (5 m2) and a small technical room (for example, there is a boiler in it).
From the plan presented above, it is clear that you can not even dream of a full-fledged house with a spacious terrace. A large area is needed here. The garage and workshop, of course, will be located in a separate capital outbuilding in the courtyard. In the case of the construction of an attic, the house will acquire additional premises - with a usable attic area of 40 m2.
Another bedroom of the same size - 16 m2. It is not recommended to significantly change the layout of the second floor, whether it is full or attic.
Games room and sports room - above the kitchen-living room. Area - 26 m2. You can make an exit to the balcony for all rooms.
Space left instead of the boiler room on the ground floor, used for the device of a regular or spiral staircase for communication with the main (first) floor.
If the playroom (or sports room) is not needed, then the space is divided in two - two more bedrooms are obtained. The use of an attic house for two married couples will seem extremely difficult. The house with an attic also received a different name - one and a half storey. Here, the second floor does not have a full ceiling height. The use of a simple two- or four-pitched roof will make it possible to equip only one small room - the rest of the space (on the sides) is wasted.
The garage plan is good for single owners. Often, men and women left alone make one common living room instead of a separate bedroom - a kitchen-living room, which is for them a place for preparing food, and an office, and a bedroom.
In this case, the layout looks like this:
- living room with bedroom, kitchen and living room functions occupies 24 m2 - no signs of a separate place in which to relax after work;
- combined bathroom of 10 m2;
- garage workshop for 12 m2;
- utility room for the boiler room for 2 m2.
There are no signs of a hall, a front door is not observed here. The entrance, as in a studio apartment, directly into the room from the yard. There is no question of a game or children's device here. On the second floor, in the attic, a storage room and a sports room can be arranged. This same room (for sports activities) turns into a guest bedroom. The guest can be accommodated separately, or, if the guest is elderly, give him a room on the ground floor, and go upstairs to spend the night.
There are standard plans with even more reduced room sizes - but the fact remains: it is very difficult for a family of 3-4 people to settle in such a tight space.
An attic or a full-fledged second floor (project of a one-and-a-half-story house) only partially solves this problem.
Arrangement of rooms
It is not difficult to equip rooms in a house with a floor area of 48 m2. It is possible to place a standard set of furniture in the bedroom - a sofa bed, a table with chairs, a sideboard and a wardrobe - without losing comfort in a room of 16-20 m2.
The kitchen will accommodate a complete modern set of furniture and household appliances. All appliances and devices will be located here, except for the washing machine. It is advisable to take the latter to the bathroom - it will be much easier to connect it to the water supply and sewerage system. In addition, this noise source is removed outside the residential area (recreation area).
The main sources of constant noise, in addition to the washing machine, are the heating boiler, the hood, and the pump that pumps water from the well. If there is no water supply line on the territory of the summer cottage settlement, then a well with a pump is the only possible choice. The pump together with the well is installed in one of the basement rooms. The heating boiler is placed in a separate compartment, not only because of compliance with fire safety standards, but also because of the constant hum emitted by gas burners and a pump that drives water along the heating circuit. Foam concrete, from which porous bricks are made, has good sound insulation, along with mineral wool.
Walls made of foam concrete will save the owner from more than 95% of the noise produced by any technique, from the prolonged exposure of which people quickly get tired.
In the hallway, if it is provided by the project itself, an additional swing or sliding wardrobe is installed, in which outer (winter) clothes are stored. If the space allotted for the hallway is small - only a few square meters - instead of a cabinet, a hanging structure for hangers is provided.
