Projects of two-story houses 6x8 m provide, despite the seeming limitedness of the site occupied in the summer cottage for such a structure, the opportunity to build full-fledged two floors, not inferior in functionality to one floor on an area of 12x8 m.

A two-story house as such is a structure, the view from the windows from the second floor of which can be noticeably better than from the first and only one. It allows you to raise the observer's field of view over the fence by one level. For example, you can find out who has arrived or arrived without leaving the gate and without using a hidden video peephole. Better on the overview of the surrounding area and the territory of the house can only be a three-story building.
Each overlying floor increases the living area by an amount equal to the first floor. This allows the owners of the facility to gain additional space, having a limited space of one hundred square meters, for example, in a common yard, where the house was originally designed for two or more apartments. The disadvantage of such a bold design is changes in the building design, whose foundation was not designed for additional floors. In the latter case, it may be necessary to rebuild part of the house - and then on condition that appropriate permits for such construction are required. There are cases when in the urban private sector the land plot is very limited due to dense development: the space for courtyards is cramped or completely absent - the entrance to the house (front, vestibule) directly from the street.
If the space on the site is not excessively limited, the owner of the future home seeks to save as much square meters of land as possible. It goes under a garden, a vegetable garden, a gazebo, an entrance for a car and a garage, various utility rooms and more. A single-storey house 6x8 m is chosen by singles for life, a two-storey house is chosen by married couples who subsequently settle their children on the second floor.
Sometimes, if there is no need to build a house with a base size of 12x8, an area of 6x8 m frees up, for example, space for one or two fruit trees, or a dozen or more beds, a small greenhouse.

With attic
Consider some of the most common attic options
- First floor: hall with space for stairs - 6.8 m2, boiler room with a pump room in one room - 3.9 m2, kitchen with dining room - 22 m2, bathroom - 11 m2. On the second floor there is a hall for 6.8 m2 and two bedrooms of 12.4 m2 each. The second floor has a usable area of about 32 m2 instead of 48 m2.
- In another version on the ground floor there is an entrance hall of 3 m2, a hall - 18 m2, a children's room - 13.5 m2 and a kitchen-living room - 21 m2. The total area of this floor is 55.5 m2. The second floor includes a small corridor - 2.5 m2, two bedrooms - 15.75 m2 each. The total area of the attic floor is 34 "squares".
The needs of one family for 3-4 people (1-2 children) have practically been resolved: the entire residential area is zoned, parents sleep in one bedroom, children sleep in the second.
With garage
The easiest way to build a garage is on the side that is closer to the yard. Its size can be for one or two cars - respectively, 11 and 22 m2. Behind the garage, a small workshop can be included in the same extension - up to 10 m2. Unfortunately, the 6x8 m plan does not in any way provide for the construction of a garage and a workshop within this rectangle on the site. Both can be placed only in the basement - under the house. Variants of a separate outbuilding are also being considered, not connected in any way with the main (residential) building, which has its own gates and doors. The presence of a bay window in the space of the kitchen-dining room, living room, as well as a terrace, expanding the home space, will not in any way affect the possibility of including a garage in a 6x8 m house - there will not be enough space.
All buildings are erected mainly from foam blocks or aerated concrete blocks. If the thickness of the walls is not important, then the construction of the walls of the house is made from various building materials - from logs and beams to bricks, up to experimental ones, for example, from glass bottles fastened with cement.
Gas silicate brick - or foam stone - the best solution in terms of heat retention … Heating costs in the winter - and air conditioning in the heat of summer - would then plummet. However, none of the building materials is devoid of disadvantages: gas silicate bricks, although they save the heat inside the house, require careful handling and are intolerant of constant moisture, easily deteriorate from sharp blows, and can be perforated even with a hand tool. The drawing takes into account the spent area of the building, which is somewhat different from the useful one (inside): from 100 m2 to 10 can be absorbed by the walls, regardless of the building materials from which they were erected.
After gas and foam blocks, wood takes the second place - in terms of heat-saving properties.
There is, however, a "stripped down" option to build a house with a garage and a workshop - townhouse or townhouse hybrid attic house … This option is for self-builders who are so constrained in income and expenses that immediately spending a million rubles or more is a very problematic decision for them. As the experience of such private tenants shows, on the ground floor, a kitchen-living room, a nursery and other living rooms are excluded. Let's try to figure out what the plan of a house with a garage will look like on a section of a plot with a usable area of 48 m2.
- So, garage for one car - 11 m2, workshop - 10 m2. Of the 48 - 21 square meters are already occupied.
- Entrance hall without a vestibule with a staircase upstairs - 9 m2. Remains 18 m2 of usable space.
- Can build kitchen for 8 m2, bathroom - 7 m2, pumping room with a furnace in one room - 3 m2.
The space has ended, the second floor, in this case the attic, is represented by the following set of rooms:
- 9 m2 - hall, above the main (first floor) corridor;
- 30 m2 - into two bedrooms.
One of the bedrooms can be designed in the style of a small living room by adding a balcony for it on ground piles dug into concrete. If not an attic, but a full-fledged second floor is being built, then the kitchen-living room is enlarged by building a terrace or veranda next to the house - and combining it with the room, and the bathroom (except for the toilet) is transferred to the second floor.
However, most users do not seriously change the project of the house, excluding or moving some of the rooms, but place the garage under the house, in the basement.
With veranda
From the above examples, any of the rooms on the ground floor can be made a veranda room. Subsequently, it is turned into a full-fledged room, completing the walls in the image and likeness of previously rebuilt living quarters - but this is not always the case.
Often, the living room on the ground floor forms a single whole with the veranda. This creates a very cozy atmosphere for the owners and guests - especially when a luxurious garden is laid out nearby, there is a view of the river, forest, lake. Or when the house is built on a small hill, from where a panoramic view of nearby summer cottages and even a part of the area in which this owner lives. The veranda, unlike the terrace, does not protrude beyond the general perimeter on the plan of the house, protruding beyond the blind area, but is strictly within the framework of the main structure.
This solution is suitable for houses not only 8x6 m, but also for any other square - the only matter is how, decorating this room together with the rest, to decorate the design in a truly elite, and sometimes defiantly beautiful.
With terrace
In the case of a terrace, the layout of the kitchen-living room on the ground floor often goes beyond the main rectangle on the plan, within which all the office and living quarters of a particular house lie. The terrace is decorated according to one of the widespread methods.
- They do not protrude beyond the rectangle of the house on the plan, or go out a little, but do not go beyond the outer perimeter of the main blind area. In this case, the blind area is completed around the terrace so that the control passage around the entire house is still accessible.
Significantly protruding from the terrace beyond the blind area. The house is terraced either in the living room according to the plan, or around it completely. In the first case, the terrace is made insulated and glazed - later it can be converted into a veranda, and then rebuilt into a full-fledged living room in accordance with all GOSTs and SNiPs in force in Russia. In the second case, the terrace is made like a summer one - it protects the load-bearing walls of the house from rain, snow drift, hail and increased exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation, slowing down the destruction of these walls. It can be equipped with panoramic windows with mosquito nets instead of glazing - but it will not protect you from the cold in winter. This is just a beautifully designed weather canopy
What kind of terrace to build after passing through the main stages of construction depends on the owner. Both options for terracing a country house are attractive in their own way. Without high-quality insulation of the walls supporting the terrace structure, whether it is also with or without a bay window, the cost of heating the terrace compartments can exceed all permissible limits.
For example, if the kitchen-living room was originally equal to 25 m2, then due to the terrace it easily increases to 30 m2 or more.
Room layout options
There are many options for the layout of rooms in houses with a size of 6x8 m
- No extra space. On the ground floor there is a kitchen, a hall, a bathroom and a furnace / pumping room. Bedrooms - no more than two - on the second floor.
- The functions of the living room can be taken over by a terrace or veranda - provided that both are equipped for winter living.
On the second floor, if he is not an attic, but a full-fledged area, like the first, balconies on piles can be attached to the rooms, the base of which is at the edge of the blind area or next to it
You can also equip well-insulated rooms in the basement… However, basement living quarters do not attract a significant majority of homeowners - few of them want to live permanently, one might say, in a dungeon devoid of natural light, no matter how attractive and comfortable it may seem at first glance. Man is naturally constructed in such a way that direct sunlight (diffused, natural) is vital for him every day
Part of the office space can be moved to the insulated attic. However, when natural light does not penetrate there, it is also impossible to fully equip living rooms, as in the basement
