Hyperpressed

When facing residential buildings, hyper-pressed bricks are very popular; they are made from a cement mineral mixture under high pressure. The brick is not fired. This production technology minimizes the appearance of voids and pores, gives it a number of advantages over other building materials:

  • differs in minimal parameters of permeability, therefore, fully withstands the effects of any atmospheric precipitation;
  • characterized by high thermal conductivity;
  • can withstand high loads up to 250 kg / sq.m.

The material is presented in a variety of textures. Models imitating natural bricks are in particular demand. This allows you to bring to life the most original design ideas and create unusual facades for private buildings on one and two floors.

However, it is not recommended to use hyper-pressed bricks to decorate masonry in regions with harsh climatic conditions. In winter, temperature fluctuations are often observed there. This leads to cracking of the material.

The front surface of hyper-pressed facade bricks is often made non-linear, giving it a resemblance to natural stone. It looks very impressive, but such nonlinearity entails delamination of the material. Due to the uneven surface, water flows into the pores more abundantly, and freezes when the temperature drops. To prevent brick damage, special hydrophobic impregnations are used.

Important: if you intend to revet your structure with hyper-pressed stone, it should be made no earlier than two or three weeks ago. It needs this time to gain the necessary strength, otherwise it may break during transportation and lifting.

Ceramic

Ceramics is one of the most demanded materials. It has a red-brown fired clay color. The stone is made by mixing concrete and clay. Dyes are introduced into the composition, which give the finished product brownish, gray and other shades.

The advantages of ceramic bricks include:

  • combustion resistance;
  • resistance to low temperatures;
  • no need for special care - any dirt can be washed off the surface with water from a hose;

It can be light or dark, so you can harmoniously combine it with the roof and basement. The stone can withstand up to 300 freeze and thaw cycles without compromising on quality. The service life of such a cladding is about 100 years.

The disadvantages include only the fact that the installation of clinker is time consuming. The material slowly absorbs water, so it is necessary to lay the clinker on a special low-plastic mortar - it is much more difficult to work with it. In addition, different batches of clinker can have different shades, so it is very important to correctly calculate the amount of required building materials for finishing planning.

And finally clinker brick is the most expensive material. Depending on the manufacturer, its price is 50-150% higher than all other types of bricks. Clinker cladding of a private house will not be a budget pleasure, but the most aesthetic in terms of its external characteristics.

Choosing the type of brick cladding is far from the only problem. At the stage of material selection, it is necessary to focus on the shape of the holes and their sizes. For example, solid stones are rarely used - they weigh more and are much more expensive. On average, voids account for about 30%, but they can be small and large.

How to properly overlay the facade?

When decorating the facade with bricks, you must adhere to certain rules. As already noted, facing bricks in different batches may have different shades. In order to avoid discrepancies, you need to immediately buy the required amount of building materials from one batch. For this, the total number of bricks is calculated before buying. It is not difficult to do this: for this, the area of ​​the facade is found and the area of ​​the openings is subtracted. The resulting number is multiplied by 51 - this is the number of bricks in the masonry square.

Before cladding wooden structures and houses from a bar, an antiseptic surface treatment should be performed. It is advisable to repeat it 2-3 times.

Before finishing work, it is worth strengthening the existing foundation, or pouring a new tape next to the main one.

Before facing a house with bricks, special attention should be paid to the ventilation system. Otherwise, the material will start to rot under the skin. For this, an air layer is formed with a width of about 3-5 cm.In addition, ventilation ducts should be provided on the facade, their area should be 0.7 m2 per 20 sq. m of the facade. Before you start laying the stone on the mortar, you need to make the laying "dry". This way you can determine the total amount of material that will need to be fitted to fit. To cut stones with your own hands, they usually use a special grinder filled with a stone disc. Splitting with a hammer is not recommended.

To connect the stones, a solution is used, obtained from 1 part of cement, 3 parts of sand and 1 part of water. The composition should be homogeneous and fairly dense. Otherwise, the mixture will be too plastic, and the stones will "float" during the formation of the masonry. The solution is applied in a thin layer on the flat side of the stone so that it does not reach the outer edge by 1-1.2 cm.

When creating masonry, for a start, corner rows with a height of 4-6 stones are formed. A thread or twine is pulled between the formed corners, along which the intermediate stones are aligned.

Advice: so that the front brick does not take all the moisture out of the concrete solution, the blocks must be moistened with water before installation.

To arrange ventilation from below, every 3-4 seams, one empty seam is formed, it is filled with insulating material.
